We’ve just received Sara and Steven’s wedding album from the bookbinder. They went for a beautiful leather binding with embossing of their names on the cover and we couldn’t help but share it here. What a beautiful keepsake!

One thing that I was really looking forward to at Jane and Mike’s wedding we catching up with her family! I shot her sisters wedding last year, and I’ll be shooting her brothers wedding next year. It’s not often that I’ll have the opportunity to document so many family celebrations over the course of a few years, and I really love seeing their family dynamic. I can imagine that it’s been a crazy few years for their parents! Their wedding was in the fall and they put together a classic wedding at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club

Emily and Adam at Bubby’s

So sad to see that Emily and Adam’s might have been my last ever wedding at Bubby’s, the classic venue in Dumbo. Not sure of the details, but it looks like they are shutting down after quite awhile (though glad to see that they are still going strong with the Tribeca location).

But if it is indeed the final one, it was definitely a great wedding to wrap things up on! I had done Emily and Adam’s engagement shoot earlier in the year, and I had a great time cruising around the neighborhood with them, playing some Scrabble at their house (Adam’s a big board game fan), and snapping at the Brooklyn Heights diner where they had gone on many of their dates in their earlier years. I knew that this was gonna be a fun one going into it, and I think we ended up with some classic photos to tell their story.

Anna and Donald

Anna and Donald are a fun couple. He’s from Ecuador and she’s from Vermont, so it was a lovely mix of elements converging when they got married in her homestate. Ecuador tradition brought the Panama hats (They’re from Ecuador… confusing I know!), late night salsa dancing and the Aurora Preferidos. Vermont tradition supplied a beautiful country church, horse drawn carriage rides, maple syrup favors and a big open barn for celebrating late into the night.

The story starts the day before, when I met with them for a rehearsal dinner at the Equinox in Manchester.

The next morning, some of the wedding guests hopped on a horse draw carriage to get a tour of the country.

In the meanwhile, Anna and Donald were prepping at the barn.

Patrice and Olly at the Music Hall of Williamsburg

From the moment that Patrice and Olly got in touch, I knew this was gonna be a cool wedding. Hard to think of a venue that would be cooler to shoot than in the Music Hall of Williamsburg… Just down the street from me, and a spot where I already had tons of great experiences.

We started the day with Patrice getting ready in Cobble hill, and then right on over to the Church of St. Agnes for their ceremony. We had already made a game plan for the day, and we knew that we weren’t going to have much daylight to shoot the two of them, so we made a beeline for Dumbo right after the ceremony to shoot through sunset. Then, with the sun down, we headed over to another Brooklyn favorite spot: Henry Public for a quick drink and some more snaps before heading to the Music Hall.

Jen and Ryan at de Seversky Mansion

I had a great time shooting Jen and Ryan for their engagement shoot around Prospect Park and Dumbo earlier in the year, so I was definitely excited for this wedding. We had headed out to NYIT de Seversky Mansion for a little scouting trip beforehand, so I knew that it was going to be a great place, and was definitely looking forward to getting out of the city and shooting at a spot where we had a bit more space. We ended up with a beautiful day for this classic New York wedding.

Bows and Bandits lookbook

I teamed up with Eva (my partner in crime for designing albums as well) to shoot this lookbook for vintage shop Bows and Bandits. We used images that Eva had shot on film for the background images, and shot this here in Brooklyn. Kudos also to Siri Thorson for the amazing styling.

Ashley and Stephen at NYBG

While I’ve shot a bunch of weddings at the Brooklyn Botanical gardens, I didn’t know much about the New York Botanical Garden, which is actually in the Bronx. So when Ashley and Stephen approached me about shooting there, I was definitely excited for my first opportunity to shoot there. It’s a lovely space, and definitely has that classic NYC vibe to it. Ashley and Stephen were a ton of fun to shoot, and they really put on a fantastic celebration.

Erica and Hoon Shot by Sandy on Style Me Pretty

Sandy just got written up on Style Me Pretty! These guys got married in Seoul, so they were just throwing their reception in NYC. They had some beautiful modern elements, and spent a lot of time cruising around Tribeca with Sandy to shoot.

Ashley and Mike engaged

Ashley and Mike and I met up in Dumbo for their engagement shoot. They won’t be getting married till next year, but I’ve had a ton of fun shooting with this family recently. I shot Mike’s sisters wedding at Sleepy Hollow Country club last year…. and I’ll be shooting his other sisters wedding this fall. We squeezed every last bit of light out of the session, and my geeky side has been loving seeing the low light files from the latest Canon camera that I recently added to my camera bag. I also took the opportunity to bust out the Polaroid Land camera and we had some fun snapping some black and whites with that.
